Travelogue
Since I spend a lot of time driving across the USA, seeing
some of the greatest scenery and, meeting people from all over. I thought I
would share some of the photos I have gathered along with my thoughts about
these places.
Loveland
Pass Crossing
This is the highest point on any US Highway in the US. At 12,990
feet. The only reason that I am here is that the load was too tall at 13ft 10in
to go through the Eisenhower Tunnel just below here on I-70. getting down from
here takes some time and patience. Getting in a hurry will only get you in
trouble.

Crossing Wyoming in the winter.
In A Tree for America I
mention the ground blizzard effect that is common in Wyoming, anytime there is
snow on the ground. This is just a mild example of the phenomena.

Dauphin Island AL.
Sometimes I have a weekend to
goof off some where along the way. So I try to get out and see the area I am in.
I took a little trip down to Dauphin Island south of Mobile Al. Looking for
different birds to add to my photo collection. These Brown Pelicans were just
waiting for me to come take their photos.

Home Time
I guess I had better start dating
these entries. The last week has been at home or at least next door to the place
we hope to soon be calling home. We are in the process of buying a small 20 acre
ranch near Springdale Washington. My brother-in-law already lives there and the
place we want is directly across the valley from his place. This is the view
from the County road, my brother's place is directly behind me.

Rest area
I found these barn swallows
nesting under the roof of a rest area building. It took a while to get the
mother to come back to the nest while I was standing there. It just goes to show
what you can find if you keep your eyes open when you stop.

USS Alabama
This image was actually taken on
Memorial Day, but since I am back in the Mobile Area waiting out some of the
clean up efforts from Hurricane Dennis before I can unload. I thought this would
be a good chance to put this one up. These tourists are looking out from the fan
tail of the USS Alabama, which is now a tourist attraction in Mobile Alabama.

A new kind of crop
Some Farmers are raising a new
kind of crop, wind generators. we deliver to a lot of Wind Farms all over the Midwest.
Each farmer is paid a monthly amount for each tower on their property. One could
almost make a living on just the income from the Generators. Each tower is
around 350 ft. tall.

Texas Canyon Arizona
This is an early morning shot of
the mountains south of Benson Arizona. The summer storm clouds softened what
would normally be a very rugged desert landscape.

Cabelas Sidney Nebraska
This little guy was just swimming
around in the lake in front of Cabelas sporting goods store in Sidney Nebraska
when I stopped in to day dream a little. They are also my favorite place for
lunch, they make a great smoked buffalo sandwich.

Creatures Big and Small
While I am waiting for a load out
of New Jersey I thought I would post this photo that I took on Dauphin Island
Alabama. A friend of mine (Betty Fasig author of Wooffer
Stories you can read to your dog and other children) mentioned that she
had seen the hair on a dragonfly's leg so I thought I would post this photo just
for her. Click on the title of her book to learn more about Wooffer.

Great Smoky Mountains Tennessee
After a hot sweaty hike near
Lebanon Tennessee I found this shot that might help explain the name Great Smoky
Mountains. There are days when the mist rising through the trees make the
mountains look like they are smoldering, it can be an awesome sight.
