A short story of mine is also included in this anthology compounded by the writers group I belong to. Along with a wide variety of other stories is one I wrote called The Ghost of Hi Jolly. Hi Jolly was a Greek and Syrian camel driver who was part of an experiment to use camels in the American Southwest. After the experiment was abandon at the beginning of the Civil War, he settled in the town of Quartzite Arizona where he is buried. I wondered what would happen if his ghost still wandered the desert, that is where this story came from.

This is a story that I was working on when the Amazon Shorts program quit taking submissions so I published it on Kindle and here is the link to it. This one is a little darker than most of my writings but it was fun to write it.

After reading an account of a man going through his father's things after the father's death and finding the Medal of Honor tucked away in a trunk in the attic I began to wonder. How many fathers from the Viet Nam era had done the same thing. This is fictional tale is about one of them, and about his son.

This story is so personal that I had to change the names just to get it out. In July of 1980 I got the word that my daughter had been killed in a horse back riding accident, I was half a world away on active duty in Germany at the time. Twenty plus years later my granddaughters want to take horse back riding lessons. This is what happened when they did.
