Rambling contains all of my previously published short stories and these four new ones
:
Shade
; is a tale set in the future where your life is controlled and monitored by the government. Shade is a man whose job is to help those who want to escape and live off the grid. Even the trucking industry is becoming so dependent on technology. This is what could happen if the government decided to misuse it.
Storm
; a western adventure. As a storm builds along the mountains Ray knows that he needs to find shelter. In his search he finds himself the guardian of a group of tender feet who are counting on him to keep them safe. Over the years I have seen the power of storms on the Great Plains, and the damage they can do. I had the protection of modern buildings to take shelter in. What must it have been like for our ancestors as they made their way west.
Dreaming of a Warm Place
; takes the reader to Wyoming during a brutally cold night. To sleep is sure death not just for the main character but for the sheep in his charge. This story was inspired by a hotel, restaurant, and truck stop located in the middle of nowhere Wyoming. It has been a welcome haven during more than a few winter storms.
Tyler's Courage
; takes a young man who has finished his recovery from a rare surgical procedure on a fishing trip in the mountains of Montana. All goes well till a grizzly bear changes things for him and his great-uncle. Tyler is my great-nephew whom I have only met recently. He told me all about the surgery he was going to have. His calm discussion of the challenges ahead was amazing for a twelve year old boy. I wanted to do something special for him and this story is the result.

Amazon
It is available in Kindle and paperback.
A short story of mine is also included in this anthology compounded by the writers group I belong to. Along with a wide variety of other stories is one I wrote called
The Ghost of Hi Jolly
. Hi Jolly was a Greek and Syrian camel driver who was part of an experiment to use camels in the American Southwest. After the experiment was abandon at the beginning of the Civil War, he settled in the town of Quartzite Arizona where he is buried. I wondered what would happen if his ghost still wandered the desert, that is where this story came from.
