Rest area visitor.
Minnesota's rest areas are not only pleasing to the human eye
but attract a large variety of wild birds. Here is a blue bird I managed to get
a good shot of while taking a break in a Minnesota rest area. Florida also
offers rest areas that are conducive to bird viewing.

Maine on Memorial Day
This year I got to sit the long weekend in Maine. I picked
the load up near the Canadian Border then came south to sit near the border of
New Hampshire. Since it was only a couple of miles the Ft McClary a fort that
dates back to the Revolution, I took the time to go check it out. This light
house is located on Ft Constitution in New Hampshire. It seemed fitting to
post this image on Memorial Day.

No I can't save you money on car insurance
I met this guy at a rest area in South Carolina. He was just
hanging on the wall chilling out during the heat of the day. He let me get
pretty close before he decided that enough was enough and hid in the foliage.

Father's Day
Since this is being posted on Father's Day I decided to post
one of my recent favorites. This is another one from the Maine coast. This guy
was just skimming across the wave tops.

Summer family outing.
Well now that summer is here the deer are grazing with the
new fawns all decked out in their spots. They seem to know that it isn't hunting
season and have very little fear. Come the fall hunting season they will become
very scarce till winter.

Just for fun
Since I will get home tomorrow to begin a week long vacation
I thought I would post this early. While I was taking a much needed break in a
West Virginia rest area this guy came flitting around, so I grabbed the trusty
Nikon and got this shot of him.

Americana July 4th 2006
I have always loved the 4th of July, but spending it in small
town USA is the greatest. I happened to be home this year for the 4th, and we
have our granddaughters visiting for the summer. It was a chance to take them to
the fireworks display in the small town of Deer Park WA. The local fire
department had an antique fire truck on display with a flag attached to the
upraised ladder, there was free ice cream and apple pie, then after dark the
fireworks began. since I couldn't fit the whole image into one photo I created
this composite to try and convey the wonder of a small town Independence Day.

Walcott Jamboree
When the July sun hits the cornfields of Iowa it is time for
the Jamboree. Trucks come from all over the country to compete in beauty
contests. Antique trucks are on hand as well. The trucks rolling along
Interstate 80 will try to stop for one of the Iowa 80 Trucks Stops famous inch
thick pork chops, or to roam around the huge chrome shop. I had the chance to
meet some great people who were competing in the show, and enjoyed seeing them
cheering each other on.

Florida Traffic
While visiting with friends near Tampa Florida I got to
witness a truly Florida traffic phenomenon. These Sand Hill Cranes live across
the street from my friends house. They cross the road with little worry about
traffic.

Another shot from Florida
This family of ducks lives across the street from my friends
house near Tampa. While I love the wildlife in the area the heat in the summer
and the lack of snow in the winter would drive me nuts. I only wish I had more
time to photograph the birds and other critters in this great state.

Beep Beep!
"So you think your fast? Just because you're big doesn't mean
you can out run me. I don't have to stop for fuel." This guy was hanging around
the fuel islands at the truck stop in Van Horn Texas. He looked like he was
searching for someone to race with. He wasn't a bit shy either, trucks were
moving all around him and other drivers were grabbing their cameras to get a
quick shot of him.
