Is it Spring Yet?

Okay enough of the snow photos. I almost put another one up from my trip home, but just couldn't bring myself to do it even though I have some nice shots. I am definitely ready for Spring. I have no idea what species of flower this is but the color caught my attention.

Which way is up?

Today I was driving across I-80 from Salt Lake City to the Nevada state line. When I got near the Bonneville Salt Flats there was a lot of standing water on the sides of the road reflecting the sky creating an interesting effect. This is the area where they go to set the land speed records. The salt makes it hard to tell if is salt or snow on the ground.

Couldn't resist.

This image was impossible to pass up. This is the rest area at the Bonneville Salt Flats area on I-80 near the Nevada state line and the small gambling town of Wendover. The image of the mountain framed by the tree and the table just grabbed my attention. I had to wait for a while till the cars that were parked in front of it to move.

Another sign of Spring?

I  keep looking for signs that Spring is here. The Rockies seem to be headed for one more big blast of Winter but since I am in the South once more I guess that I will miss it.

Western Juniper

Once again I find myself in the beautiful state of Utah. The four corners area where I found this tree is one of my favorite spot in the country. This is not far from Mesa Verdi.

Assembly required

Before those great big wind generators are able to do their job they have to be trucked in piece by piece and put together. Recently I delivered a hub unit, the white piece still on the trucks above, to a wind farm just south of the Columbia River in Oregon. Here is what the wind mill looks like waiting to be assembled.

Desert Spring

Since I am once again in Arizona here is a shot of a Prickly Pear Cactus in bloom here in the desert. Spring time even brings out the beauty of the desert when the cactus are in bloom.

Long Lonesome Highway

The longest seeming stretch of highway that I know of is Interstate 10 between El Paso Texas and San Antonio Texas. It is a little over 500 miles of uninterrupted  hills covered with Mesquite, Sagebrush, and Cactus. There are a few oasis that are far apart but welcome when you get there.

Beauty found in the thorns

I thought twice about posting another cactus bloom photo but the lesson I see here made it worth posting just to show the beauty that can be found sometimes surrounded by the thorns of life. It made me think of a friend of mine Kathleen O'Donnell who in spite of losing her sight she still finds beauty in life.

New Life

Nothing says Spring like the emergence of new life. This nest was in a machine that I had to pick up. We took care to move it gently and put it in a protected area close by in hopes that the mother would find it. The little bird in there had just pecked his way out of the egg so I didn't try to get him to hold his head up.

New Office

What a place for inspiration. Since my regular office has been put on hold for the moment, and since summer has finally come to the ranch. This has become my temporary office when I am home. The more time I spend at home on the Round 2 It Ranch the more I love this place.

Noisy Visitor

Since I have been running through the same places this last week I thought I would post another image from my time at home on the ranch. While I was working on the deck this little guy started making a bunch of noise. Of course my dog Scout the mighty trucker pup had to go see what all of the fuss was about and had this guy up a small tree for a few minutes till I distracted him long enough for the Squirrel to make his escape.
