North Bend Washington.
This guy was grazing right next to the entrance ramp to I-90
as I was getting on the Interstate this morning. What a way to start the day,
the kind of thing that makes all of this traveling worth while.

After the Storm
Since there has been so much strife this week I had to dig
into the archives to post this image of the sun breaking through after a storm.
Being an optimist I am hoping for New Orleans to come back bigger and better
than ever

Plains Sunset
How do you capture the vastness that is the Great Plains?
Wheat and corn fields that reach as far as the eye can see. I had a
problem getting just the image that I wanted to convey that vastness but I did
see this just as the sun set in the tiny town of Goodland in Western Kansas.

Aspen Glory
This is the view that I got enjoy with my
morning coffee while I was at home last week. As you can see by the color of the
Aspen leaves Fall is slowly coming to our valley, it won't be long till the
first dusting of snow is on the ground.

Texas Hill Country
Since this week has been so hectic, and I am in Texas, I
found this shot from earlier this summer. It was taken near Sweetwater
Texas.

Land of Enchantment
Overlooking many of our highways are unique sculptures that
have always fascinated me. This giant Road Runner stands above Las Cruces New
Mexico. I wonder where the coyote is?

Fall in the Garden State
Last Fall I got the chance to spend a little bit of time
shooting with one of my heroes, my brother. He is the one who helped light the
flame of desire in me for photography. This is one of the images I took while
taking a walk with him through the woods near his New Jersey home. I can't wait
to get a chance to shoot with him near his new home in North Carolina, or when
he comes to visit our ranch in Washington.

Willard Bay Utah
This little Rock Chuck lives on a breakwater that extends out
into the Great Salt Lake north of Ogden Utah. With the weather turning colder he
look like he has the whole thing under control. I put this one up as I pass
through Utah on my
way home to the "Round 2 It Ranch."

Before the Snow?
On a walk around the ranch on my home time I saw these
raindrops that were the precursor to the first snow fall of the year. It was
only one day away. I am sure that when I get home for Christmas there will be
plenty of snow to photograph.

Land of Mesas and Canyons
This week on my way to Houston from Seattle I got to go down
through the Four Corners area, where Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Arizona all
come together. It is one of my favorite parts of the country as the colors are
vivid and the landscape is dramatic.

Renewal
I took this image just after coming out of New Orleans LA.
The visible evidence of Katrina's visit is more seen in the piles of belongings
setting on the curbs than in damaged buildings. The traffic was almost as dense
as it used to be before the storms, so the signs are there that New Orleans is
on it's way to recovery. It will be a long road I am sure but the journey has
begun. Maybe that is what made this simple image of a butterfly on a flower so
poignant. Even in the Deep South I am not used to seeing butterfly's in
November. I took it as a sign that the renewal has begun.
